MTHA Get gold IIP Award

Gold Stars all round

Merthyr Tydfil Housing Association (MTHA) achieves Gold Standard. MTHA recently underwent their IIP reassessment, having originally received the award in November 2002. The assessors arrived on site on June 30th and interviewed various members of staff over 2 days.

The format of the assessment has altered since the organisation first achieved IIP status. There are now 3 categories of IIP award available – bronze, sliver and gold. In order to help the assessor measure the success of the organisation there are a total of 196 ‘standards’ against which an organisation can request to be assessed. There are 39 ‘core standards’ which an organisation must achieve, and in order to achieve bronze the organisation will need to achieve 105 standards; 115 for silver and 165 for Gold. Prior to MTHA’s assessment there were only 5 organisations in Wales that had achieved the Gold Standard.

Individual organisations chose the standards against which they wish to be assessed. MTHA chose to be assessed against all 196 standards, and achieved 192 – An amazing 98% of the total number of standards achievable!

Everyone associated with MTHA including the Board and staff are absolutely delighted with the results and are so pleased that MTHA has been recognised as such an outstanding place to work.

The Association is busy making plans to celebrate this fantastic achievement.

Karen Dusgate – MTHA Chief Executive, and the driving force behind the award said “We are absolutely delighted and very proud of what we have achieved. The award is tribute to the fantastic team within our organisation; this kind of success cannot be attributed to any one individual it is about what we can all achieve together – and what an outstanding achievement that is – world class!”
