Merthyr Housing being presented with the RSPCA Footprint Award
Merthyr Housing have been committed to ensuring Animal Welfare is promoted for a number of years, and we are proud to announce that we have been awarded the RSPCA housing footprint award for the 8th year running. The award recognises the role housing providers can have in ensuring animals are looked after and the benefits a pet can bring to people.
The Association has policies and procedures in place to encourage responsible ownership and actively encourages tenants to let us know what pets they have in their properties so we can provide information and advice, and should any pet go missing we can help try and locate them by recording details such as their microchip number.
Animal Welfare and responsible pet ownership is particularly important during the festive period. The Association would not encourage animals to be purchased as gifts for Christmas as they are a lifelong commitment and not something that should be discarded once the novelty wears off. The RSPCA and other animal charities have lots of advice and guidance for pet owners at this time of the year, and sadly their re-homing centers are particularly busy following the festive period.
