Merthyr Housing works with Voluntary organisations (Drive, Adferiad, Llamau, Womens Floating Support, Pobl) and statutory organisations (Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Health Authority) to meet the needs of people with specialist housing and support requirements. Support is provided to people in their own home or in a scheme, for example, a hostel or HMO.
We currently provide support to:
- people who have experienced domestic violence
- people with mental health problems
- people with learning disabilities
- young single homeless people (16 – 25 years old)
- people who are at risk of homelessness or have been homeless (18 – 64)
- people with substance misuse problems
- people who have a history of offending behaviour
- people with physical disabilities.
If you are or know someone who might benefit from specialist housing services, please contact our Housing Services Manager- on 01685 352800 or mtha@mtha.org.uk
Adaptations to your home
If you are finding it hard to get around your home or use your bath facilities, we may be able to make things easier.
Wherever possible we will strive to provide a service that enables you to live independently and as comfortable as possible in your own home.
In order to do this, we work closely with specialist private occupational therapists dealing with referrals for aids and adaptations to homes.
If you have any medical and / or mobility issues and feel you would benefit from an occupational therapist assessment, please contact us on 01685 352800 (selecting option 3 for housing) or mtha@mtha.org.uk
We will arrange a home visit to talk about your requirements and needs so that we can make the appropriate referral.
The occupational therapist will then contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for the assessment. Once the assessment is completed, funding will be sourced to undertake any adaptations are required. Please note that this is subject to available funds and the findings of the report.
