The housing and support sector is acutely aware of the risks of removing the ring-fence around Supporting People funding and has been vocal in their concerns about the Welsh Government’s proposal to merge it with non-housing grants to form an Early Intervention: Prevention and Support super-grant.

Over the last eight months, Cymorth Cymru, with the support of nine other national housing and support organisations, has developed an alternative proposal, a ring-fenced Homelessness and Housing Related Support grant. We believe that this solution helps to meet Welsh Government aims, but also safeguards homelessness and housing related support services for the most vulnerable people in Wales.

This might be the greatest challenge that Supporting People has faced in Wales since its inception – but together, we can save vital services for the people we support.”
