Rhiant Corfforaethol Cymreig – Corporate Parent Wales

Merthyr Housing’s Chair Ann Batley is delighted to announce that the Association has signed up to the Welsh Government’s Corporate Parenting Charter- A promise from Wales “A Shared Parenting Pledge”.

This pledge promotes the organisation’s collective responsibility to safeguard and promote the rights and life chances of care experienced children and young people.  It  was developed in collaboration with young people who had experienced care and establishes eleven shared principles that Corporate Parents will need to follow when providing services.

This commitment reflects our dedication to supporting care-experienced young people as they transition into independent living. We recognise the important role we can play in providing not just housing, but stability, opportunity and a strong sense of community.

By joining the Charter, we are strengthening our promise to:

  • Offer safe, secure and supportive homes
  • Work collaboratively with partners to improve outcomes for care experienced children and young people
  • Listen to and amplify the voices of care experienced young people
  • Create pathways for training, employment and personal development

“Merthyr Housing has always put tenants at the heart of its services, and our core purpose is to work with people to improve their lives. The Corporate Parenting Charter aligns with the Association’s values as we recognise the impact that early childhood experiences can have on individuals as they develop and grow”.

Ann Batley, Chair of the Board
