Please be aware that if you claim benefits, you may be entitled to receive help with paying your rent. It is your responsibility to apply for any housing related benefits, this is not done automatically when you make a claim.
Universal Credit
If you are currently changing to, or already claim Universal Credit you need to confirm your housing costs via your UC journal. Please call us if you are unsure of your weekly rent amount. Housing costs will be paid directly to you with your UC payment. It is important that you pay us the full amount of rent owed. Any shortfall of rent is your responsibility.

We can apply for payments to come directly to us, this depends on individual circumstances. If you meet the criteria and would like us to apply please call us to discuss.
If you claim any other benefits you may be entitled to housing benefit, you can apply via Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. Housing Benefit is usually paid directly to your landlord, MTHA. It is important that you check your entitlement amount as you may need to pay any shortfall.
