What is the Tenants’ Voice?
Our Tenants’ Voice is a group of tenants working together with staff, senior team and the board of Merthyr Housing, to help us inspect our services, shape our policies and provide a critical eye, from a tenant’s point-of-view, of how our services are run. The group uses the experiences of our tenants to make sure that we continue to grow and provide all tenants with a service that is second to none.
Why join the Tenants’ Voice?
There are many reasons to join our Tenants’ Voice. We have themed some of these so it is easier to highlight why you should think of joining.
Build your confidence
The group is a great way to rebuild your confidence in your own ability and your skills. As part of being a member of the group, training and development will be provided to support you. With peers and staff to support you, we will all work together to make sure that your potential is fulfilled and that you continue to shine.
Support us to be the best we can
At Merthyr Housing tenants are at the heart of what we do. For us to understand how our services are experienced, we need more tenants to supportively critique them. To do this, we need to understand how you have found our services and how you think we can improve, based on your first-hand experience.
It looks good on your CV
If you are looking to get back into work and to further enhance your career, this is a great step for you. As well as developing a range of skills, qualifications and experiences around policy, governance and lots more, volunteering your time shows that you are willing to give your time up for free to help others and develop yourself. It shows that you are someone who actively seeks to learn and grow and that you are driven by more than money.
Reward and recognition
Gifting us your time is one of the greatest gifts you can give. To recognise and reward that, for every hour that you volunteer with us, we will bank your hours and match this with the same value as the living wage. Every December, we will then reward you with the value of your hours in your chosen form, either:
- Retail/shopping vouchers
- Restaurant Vouchers
Other benefits may include:
- Free place at the annual TPAS Wales Conference and transport there and back (full conference and one night’s accommodation),
- A tablet for your learning and development needs whilst a member of the group,
- Free all expenses paid Christmas meal with your fellow Tenants’ Voice members;
- Christmas thank you voucher for your time and commitment.
